On Thursday 2nd October 2025, the BBC aired a segment on BBC Morning Live featuring our adopter, Morgan, which highlighted the need for more people to consider adopting children over the age of four.
Within the video, Morgan, who adopted through Adoption Matters with his husband Derry, in 2024, spoke about their own adoption experience when adopting their five-year-old son.
Morgan initially enquired wanting to adopt a baby, but after attending learning more through training he attended about how trauma impacts children in care, they adapted their age ranges. Then they attended an adoption activity day, and everything changed…
You can watch the footage at minute 31:14 over on BBC iPlayer.
If after watching the video you would like to hear more from Morgan and his partner, then you can do so over in the ‘Adopter Stories’ section of our website – here they have opened up even more and offered advice to those thinking about taking the first steps in their adoption journey.
Adoption Matters would like to thank Morgan for his hard work in spreading adoption awareness and for sharing his story to inspire others.
